Seasonal Management System
The seasonal management program is to efficiently reduce and manage the emission of fine dust during a period when the monthly average concentration of ultra-fine dust is particularly deepened from December 1 to March 31 due to seasonal factors.
The 4th seasonal management program was held from
December 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.
HOW TO
1) preemptive measures in the public sector
- Restriction on the operation of vehicles of Class 5 emission from public institutions
- Crackdown on illegal disposal and collection of waste in major industrial complexes
2) Management of fine dust reduction by field
- Designate and monitor large companies' voluntary reduction targets
- Shutting down coal-fired power plants and operating below 80% normal capacity
- Keep room temperature below 17℃
3) Indoor air quality management in public places
- On-site inspection of vulnerable groups
- In the event of high concentration of fine dust, masks are provided to outdoor workers
4) Improvement of high-concentration fine dust forecast
- The government will improve forecast accuracy in the future by expanding the forecast target to other regions.
RESULT
Implications
Just as harmful substances decreased when activity decreased due to COVID-19, the seasonal management system also reduces harmful substances by increasing regulations during times of severe fine dust. The implementation of the 1st to 4th seasonal management system earlier shows that it is a realistic policy, and it is necessary to develop various methods to reduce harmful substances.
