Korean New Deal
1. Korean New Deal Comprehensive Plan - Korean New Deal 1.0 (2020.7.)
On the stepping stone of the employment society safety net, it would be promoted into two pillars: Digital New Deal and Green New Deal.
2. Korean New Deal 2.0 (2021.7.)
The goal is to expand the total investment in the Korean New Deal from 160 trillion won to 220 trillion won by 2025, and to create additional 2.5 million jobs from 1.9 million jobs.
- Green New Deal
#1 Establishing 「A Foundation for Carbon Neutrality Promotion」 as a New Task of the Green New Deal
- To support the implementation of the 2030 National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Goals (Nationally Determined Contribution), the greenhouse gas measurement and evaluation system will be reorganized, and carbon border adjustment system will be established as the international order
- Establishment of an industrial carbon reduction system such as industrial resource circulation system, remanufacturing, and re-resource, and establishment of an efficient management base for carbon absorption sources
- Establish a carbon neutral promotion system in which the body is the nation
#2 Expand and reinforce the scope and scale of the Green New Deal project and accelerate its implementation to efficiently support the transition to a low-carbon economic structure
- Infrastructure to reinforce existing projects for buildings and cities, restore green ecosystems in urban, rural, and coastal areas, and preemptively respond to climate risks
- Establish a foundation for the spread of renewable energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and expand the supply of green mobility such as hydrogen cars
- Expanding support for green industries by developing specialized reduction technologies for each carbon-emitting industry and expanding green finance to effectively reduce carbon
3. Progress Result
Spreading untact transaction education and establishing a low-carbon eco-friendly industrial ecosystem
4. Task of The Korean Green New Deal
Not only the Green New Deal, but also the projects envisioned and promoted by the Digital New Deal, the Social Safety Net, and the Balanced Regional New Deal should all be placed under the carbon-neutral goal. So, the current Green New Deal needs to be expanded more broadly and re-established to realize 2050 carbon neutrality.
